This page explains how advertising works on this site, how we keep it compliant with Google AdSense program policies, and how ads are kept clearly separate from the calculators.
Original, useful content
Every calculator and article here is written for a real user need — working out the volume, weight and fill time of a pipe — and is backed by published engineering standards (ASME B36.10, ASTM B88, ASTM F876). Pages are substantive, original and free to use, in line with the AdSense requirement for content that provides genuine value rather than pages built only to host ads.
How ads are placed
Ad slots are reserved in a way that keeps them clearly distinguishable from the tools and text. When ads are enabled they will:
- be labelled as advertising, never disguised as calculator controls, results or navigation;
- sit below or beside the tool and within the content flow, not stacked over the first-screen calculator;
- never sit on error pages, empty-result states or the 404 page;
- leave the site fully usable with ads blocked or disabled.
Cookies, personalisation and consent
Advertising partners, including Google, may use cookies to serve and measure ads, and in some regions to personalise them based on prior visits to this and other sites. You can manage ad personalisation through your Google Ads settings and your browser's cookie controls. Where local law requires it (for example in the EEA and UK), a consent mechanism governs non-essential and advertising cookies before personalised ads are served. Content standards
The site carries only general-interest engineering and DIY content. It contains no adult, hateful, violent, dangerous or deceptive material, and does not sit in AdSense-restricted categories. This keeps the inventory brand-safe and policy-compliant.
ads.txt and authorised sellers
An ads.txt file is published at the site root so that only authorised sellers can represent
this site's inventory. It will list the correct AdSense publisher line once the account is approved, which
protects against unauthorised or counterfeit ad selling.
Family-safe, brand-safe inventory
The entire site is general-interest engineering and DIY reference. There is no adult, violent, hateful, shocking or dangerous content, no restricted-category material, and nothing that would make the inventory unsafe for mainstream advertisers. Pages are written to be genuinely useful first, which is also what keeps them eligible under the AdSense content policies.
Transparency about data and ads
When advertising is active, we aim to be clear about what happens: ads are labelled, personalised only where consent and law allow, and served by vetted partners under their published policies. We do not sell personal data, and the calculators themselves collect nothing about your inputs — they run and store history locally in your browser. Anyone who wants to understand or limit ad personalisation can do so through their Google Ads settings and browser controls, as described in the privacy policy.
