This policy explains what information is and is not collected when you use this site. It is written to be read, not to hide behind jargon.
Your calculations stay on your device
The calculators run entirely in your browser. The inputs you enter and the recent-calculation history are stored locally on your own device (in your browser's local storage) and are not transmitted to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser storage removes that history.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and how the site performs, in aggregate. Analytics may set cookies and collect standard technical information such as your approximate region, device type, browser and the pages you visit. This is used to improve the site, not to identify you personally.
Advertising
This site may display advertising, including through Google AdSense. Advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and in some cases to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can manage ad personalisation through your Google Ads settings and through your browser's cookie controls.
Cookies and your choices
Cookies are small files a site can store in your browser. You can block or delete them in your browser settings; the calculators will still work, though your saved history and some preferences may not persist. Where required, a notice is shown so you can make a choice about non-essential cookies.
Third-party links
Pages may link to external standards bodies, manufacturers or references. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Your data choices and rights
Because the calculators run in your browser and store history locally, most of your interaction with this site never leaves your device. For the limited analytics and advertising data that is collected, you retain the usual choices: you can block or clear cookies in your browser, opt out of personalised advertising through your Google Ads settings, and use private browsing to avoid persistent identifiers. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to certain processing; requests can be made to the contact address below and will be handled in line with the applicable law such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Data retention
Locally stored calculation history stays until you clear it. Aggregate analytics data is retained only as long as it is useful for understanding site performance, in line with the analytics provider's standard retention settings. We do not build individual advertising profiles ourselves; any such processing is carried out by the advertising and analytics providers under their own policies.
Children's privacy
This is a general-audience engineering and DIY reference and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through this site, contact us and we will delete it.
International data
The analytics and advertising providers used here operate globally, so aggregate technical data may be processed in countries other than your own. Those providers commit to recognised safeguards for such transfers under their own policies; this site does not itself transfer identifiable personal data.

This policy may be updated as the site changes or as regulations require. The current version is always the one published on this page.
